![]() In Outlook 2013 and earlier versions, IMAP accounts also used an Outlook Data File (.pst). POP accounts, store their information in Outlook Data Files (.pst files). When you use Microsoft Outlook, a profile is created and its corresponding OST files. The OST file stores emails, contacts, calendars, and notes. ![]() Note: When removing the email account from the Outlook Profile, the OST file is removed. Instead, a new Outlook profile should be created. You should avoid changing IMAP email settings or removing the email account from Outlook. In general, Microsoft says that changing IMAP email settings is fine, however, we have seen some cases when changing/updating email settings generate a loss of data (contact, calendar, notes).
